Navy gets its first women sailors

For the first time in the country's history, 44 women sailors joined the Bangladesh Navy yesterday.

Besides, 727 male sailors also formally joined the defence force after completing training.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed took salute and witnessed a parade at the naval base BNS Titumir in Khulna on the occasion.

Sailors Ariful Islam, Shahriar Ahmed and Ripa Akhter were awarded for their outstanding performance, says an ISPR press release.

The Navy chief directed the new sailors to work sincerely in the spirit of the Liberation War for building the nation. 

Senior naval officers were present.
