Acclaimed film “Shyamol Chhaya”, set against the backdrop of the Liberation War, will be screened today on Channel i at 3:05. The film, written and directed by Humayun Ahmed, is about a group of people on a boat journey during the tumultuous times of 1971. The film boasts a heavyweight cast, including Humayun Faridi, Tania Ahmed, Meher Afroz Shaon, Riaz, Shadhin Khosru, Syed Akhtar Ali, Ahmed Rubel, Ejazul Islam, Faruque Ahmed, Shamima Nazneen and Challenger.
“Shyamol Chhaya”, released on Victory Day in 2004, was Bangladesh's submission to the 78th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film Category, and traveled to a number of International Festivals. It was produced by Impress Telefilm and was cinematographed by Anowar Hossain and music by Maksud Jamil Mintu.
