Humayun Faridee’s spectacles auctioned for BDT 3,25,012

Humayun Faridee is one of the greatest actors in the Bangladeshi film and television industry, and an inspiration for many contemporary actors to take up the craft. Even after his passing, one of the actor's belongings has made a notable contribution during the Covid-19 crisis. Through the Auction 4 Action initiative, a pair of his most used spectacles were put up for auction, and went for BDT 3,25,012 to an avid fan in Hungary, who insisted on remaining anonymous. "If my father were alive today, I know that he would have made a much bigger contribution," said Shararat Islam, daughter of the legendary actor. "When Prito Reza and Arif R Hossain from Auction 4 Action approached me, our family was more than happy to be able to contribute." According to Shararat, the actor had worn the spectacles at many of his shooting sets and interviews. "The man who bid for the spectacles insisted on paying BDT 3,25,012, as 25 and 12 are the dates of his daughters' birthdays. He wanted to buy it for his daughters, so that they had something to remember Bangladesh by." The late actor's family is to be commended for being able to part with a priceless keepsake, to help the ones in need during this crisis.
