The Malhar Festival enthralls Khulna
The Assistant High Commission of India in Khulna, in association with Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, recently organised The Malhar Festival at CSS Ava Centre in Khulna for the first time.
Talukder Abdul Khalaque, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation along with Rajesh Kumar Raina, Assistant High Commissioner of India, inaugurated the festival.
The Malhar Festival is a musical bonanza that welcomes monsoon through blissful classical ragas. Music enthusiasts of Khulna had the opportunity to witness artistes from India render some of their best compositions. It was a great learning experience for classical music lovers.
In his speech, Rajesh Kumar Raina said that Khulna is considered to be the capital of folk dance and classical music. Hence, The Malhar Festival was organised to celebrate the cultural spirit of Khulna.
Two artistes from India, Pandit Debojyoti Bose (Sarod) and Pandit Subhankar Banerjee (Tabla) performed at the programme.
Pandit Subhankar Banerjee is one of the most popular instrumentalists to have accompanied many of India’s greatest musicians and dancers. Pandit Debojyoti Bose, is an internationally renowned figure of Indian classical music.
Md Lokman Hossain Mia, Khulna Divisional Commissioner, and Dr Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman, Vice Chancellor of Khulna University, among many others, were present at the event.
