Shemonty Monjari explores love through Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore expressed his love for the creator, nature, and humanity through his soulful music. To this very day, his creations continue to inspire new generations of singers. Shemonty Monjari, who embarked on her musical voyage at the age of four, is one of them.
On October 20, Shemonty Monjari performed her renditions of some Tagore songs of the Prem (love) genre to commemorate the author's love towards God, the universe and its creations in 'Colours of Love- Exploring Love through Tagore' at EMK Platform. EMK platform is an initiative of EMK Centre that provides an opportunity to young artistes to showcase their talent.
“From a very young age, I was inspired by Rabindra Sangeet,” says Shemonty Monjari. “Over the years, I have been persistent to improve and do justice to his songs.”
The way Monjari mesmerised the audience only proves that she has been true to her words. She performed twelve songs with her team, which included Rafi Haque Anter on tabla, Nashir Uddin on guitar and Rabins Choudhury on keyboard.
Some of the songs of the night were - Noy Noy E Modhur Khela, Gahanakusuma Kunjamajhe, Jagorone Jay, Bhalobeshe Shokhi and Kotobaro Bhebechhinu.
She narrated a brief history about each of the songs in between. The artiste is currently working in Chhayanaut Sangeet Vidyayatan as a teacher in Rabindrasangeet, and as an Adjunct Faculty in University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.
