‘Reminiscing with Music: Sritite Mastermoshai’ in the offing
With the participation of key figures like Amir Ahmad Chowdhury, Pandit Sunil Dhar, Pandit Pabitra Mohan Dey, Sanjib Dey, Asit Kumar Dey and others, LAAYA is set to inaugurate a commemoration ceremony at 6:30 pm today, titled ‘Reminiscing with Music: Sritite Mastermoshai’. The event will take place at Shilpakala Academy in Mymensingh.
The very first event of LAAYA is testament of the founder Asit Kumar Dey’s vision. He is a renowned Indian classical music artiste and also a teacher. While teaching and observing his students, it occurred to him that a platform was of utmost necessity not only for the renowned artistes, but also for the young learners, in order to encourage them to devote themselves to classical music, and perhaps consider it as a career.
LAAYA plans to schedule their programmes annually, marking significant dates in the lives of Indian classical music maestros. This year marks the 33rd death anniversary of Pandit Mithun Dey.
The commemoration ceremony will be followed by a performance segment by Asit Kumar Dey (vocals), Priyanka Gope (vocals), Nishit Dey (sitar), Shamya Dey (sitar) and Avijit Kundu (vocals), accompanied by Alamgir Parvez on pakhawaj, Prashanta Bhowmik on tabla and Tinku Shill on harmonium.
The launching of this programme seeks to rediscover the practice of classical music as well as the thoughts of practitioners in the arena in the modern era.
