Channel i hosts Band Fest 2019

Guests, marking the beginning of the show.

To celebrate the sixth edition of Band Fest, leading and upcoming bands of the country came together at Channel i’s office on, recently. The festival began in the morning and was aired live on Channel i.

The music fiesta, introduced by legendary singer, composer and guitarist Ayub Bachchu, featured eighteen bands, including LRB, Feedback, Dalchhut, Shironamhin, Artcell, Tirandaj, Obscure, Joler Gaan, Ark, Vikings, Parthibo, Arbovirus, Dhrubotara, Mechanix, Hoichoi, Metrical, Blackmoon and Esfini.

The programme commenced with the performance of LRB, who entertained the audience with their popular songs. State Minister for Information, Murad Hassan, Director and Head of News of Channel i, Shykh Seraj, Executive Director of Shwapno, Sabbir Hasan Nasir, Executive Director of Yamaha, Subrata Ranjan Das, Chairman of Nandan Group, Bilal Haque, and others, were present at the inaugural ceremony.

“Ayub Bachchu came to our office to attend a special episode of Taroka Kathan where the legendary singer shared his idea of dedicating a day to band music with Faridur Reza Sagar.  Thus, December 1 was fixed as the date for the annual Band Fest,” said Shykh Seraj.

“In the future editions of the festival, we will introduce the Rupali Guitar Award, in memory of Ayub Bachchu, which will be presented to a band annually. The award-winning band will receive a crest, a certificate and prize money,” he added. This year’s festival was sponsored by Shwapno and Yamaha, and powered by Nandan Park.
