ACC permitted to interrogate Dr Sabrina, 5 others at jail gate
A Dhaka court today allowed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to interrogate JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury and five others at jail gate for three working days to learn about the wealth they acquired illegally.
The other accused are, JKG Chief Executive Officer Ariful Chowdhury who is also Dr Sabrina's husband, graphic designer Humayun Kabir Himu and four other JKG employees – Tanzina Patwary (Himu's wife), Jebunnesa Rima and her husband ASM Sayeed Chowdhury.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order after Selina Akhter Moni, a deputy director of the ACC and also the team leader of the enquiry committee, submitted an application in this regard.
Moni told the court that all six accused were earlier arrested in connection with a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
The accused had made a lot of money while issuing these certificates. As such, it is necessary to interrogate them to find out where they deposited the illegally-acquired money, the team leader added.
Another Dhaka court framed charges against eight people including the six in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
All the accused were arrested on different dates from different areas in the capital.
