Students with proof of vaccination to be allowed in DU halls from Oct 5
Residential halls of Dhaka University (DU) -- for masters and final-year honours students -- are going to reopen from October 5.
Students who can prove that they have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be allowed in residential halls from 8:00am on October 5.
The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting following the recommendation of DU provost standing committee. The syndicate meeting, held virtually, was presided over by the Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof M Akhtaruzzaman.
DU Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, who is also a syndicate member of the university, confirmed the latest development to The Daily Star.
"First, masters and honours final year students will be allowed into halls. Once their exams are over, they will leave the halls. Later, students of other sessions will be allowed into halls gradually," he said.
The syndicate also finalised the suggestion of provost committee -- to reopen the central library of the university on September 26, he said.
Students, who have received Covid-19 vaccine, can use the library, said the professor.
