LPU to establish 'Bangabandhu Corner' marking birth centenary
A Bangabandhu Corner will be established at the Lovely Professional University in Punjab, one of the largest private universities in India, marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Muhammad Imran, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, and Ashok Mittal, chancellor of the university.
The Bangabandhu Corner will have a life-size portrait of Bangabandhu, copies of "Unfinished Memoirs" and "Prison Diaries" alongside other books on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh's history, culture, and socio-economic development.
Once the Bangabandhu Corner is established, it would become a knowledge platform for students from India and abroad to know about the life, work, and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
According to Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, the Bangabandhu Corner in Lovely Professional University will eventually be converted into a centre as agreed by the university authorities.
The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi is also working to establish Bangabandhu Centre in different public and private educational institutions.
