Dr Sultan-Ul-Islam appointed new Rajshahi University pro-vice-chancellor
Prof Dr Sultan-Ul-Islam has been appointed as the new pro-vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU).
A gazette notification was issued by the education ministry today in this regard.
President Abdul Hamid, chancellor of the university, appointed Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam, chairman of Geology and Mining Department of RU, as the pro-VC for the next four years, reads the notification.
Sultan-Ul-Islam is also the convener of RU Teachers' Society Against Corruption, a group that has been protesting against different irregularities in the university for the last few years.
The RU vice-chancellor post has remained vacant for two months since Prof M Abdus Sobhan's tenure expired on May 6. In the interim, Prof Ananda Kumar Saha has been the acting VC, while also discharging his pro-VC duties.
Prof Ananda Kumar Saha's tenure will expire on July 17.
