Woman dies of Covid-19 symptoms while waiting to be admitted to CMCH ICU
A woman died of Covid-19 symptoms while waiting in an ambulance, holding on to the hope of getting admitted at the ICU of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) yesterday.
The deceased is Jebunnessa Karim (45), wife of Rezaul Karim, a journalist of local newspaper -- Dainik Himchori -- published from Cox's Bazar.
Jebunnessa had been suffering from respiratory problems for the last couple of days. She was taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment on Sunday, said Iqram Chowdhury Tipu, the victim's relative.
But doctors there referred Jebunnessa to be admitted at ICU of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CHCH) as her physical condition was unstable. Later, she was taken to the CMCH on an ambulance early in the morning yesterday.
But she could not be admitted as no seat at the ICU was vacant.
Finally, she died at around 8:00am, said Tipu, who is also a journalist.
She was buried at her village at Sikdar Para under Pekua upazila of Cox's Bazar at yesterday afternoon following WHO's guidelines.
