Man, nephew killed as private car hits motorcycle in Kushtia

Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a private car in Kushtia early today.

The deceased were identified as Rahat Islam Palash, 30, and his nephew Fahim Onik, 23.

The accident took place around 1:30am on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway in front of Kushtia Zilla School, police said.

Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, told The Daily Star that the motorcycle was entering the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway from a side road and heading towards Chourhash when a speeding private car coming from Mojompur Gate area hit them.

The impact threw the riders off the motorcycle, killing two on the spot and injuring another, he added.

Injured Tanvir Gani, 23, is currently undergoing treatment at the 250-bed General Hospital in Kushtia.
