Tigers stitch two ton stands in innings after Mt Maunganui
Bangladesh batters Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das have stitched hundred runs together as the Tigers resumed fourth day's play of the first Test between Bangladesh against Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Resuming the day's play on 98-run stand for the fourth-wicket, Liton struck a boundary in the second delivery off Ramesh Mendis to bring up the century stand. Bangladesh are 324 for three and trail by 73 runs in the first innings of the first Test of the two-match series.
The last time two double-century partnerships came up in a single innings for the Tigers was during the historic Mount Maunganui Test against hosts New Zealand, where Bangladesh won by 8 wickets. In that Test, in reply to the Kiwis 328 runs in first innings, the Tigers had scored 458, in which Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto stitched the first century stand (second wicket) before Mominul Haque and Liton Das pulled off the second (fifth wicket).
