‘Mbappe is the best player in the world’

Kylian Mbappe’s former Monaco team mate and fellow Frenchman Tiemoue Bakayoko praised the 19-year old sensation and said that the Paris Saint-Germain forward is the best player in the world.

Mbappe scored a total of four goals for France in the World Cup and also became the first teenager to score a goal in the World Cup final at the age of 19 since Pele did it playing for Brazil during the 1958 World Cup against Sweden when he was 18 years of age. He was awarded FIFA young player of the tournament for his excellent performances in the World Cup 2018.

Bakayoko who missed out on France’s World Cup squad list and was forced to watch on from home praised Mbappe’s scintillating performances in Russia that helped France to secure their second World Cup title after 20 years. According to Bakayoko, Mbappe is the world’s best player and is ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi—the two greats of this generation.

Bakayoko told Goal in Perth that he is not at all surprised by what the 19-year old has achieved in Russia and also mentioned that he considers Mbappe as the best player in the World.

“I’m not surprised [at his success], he’s very young but he’s very mature,” Bakayoko said.

“He’s a very intelligent player and I think with his characteristics he’s the best player in the world.

“Don't forget he’s very young and it's not easy to play against the older players and to be so quick on the pitch.” Bakayoko added.

Although the 23-year old midfielder was left out of France’s World Cup squad, he hailed his nation’s excellent display in the World’s biggest stage and admitted that he is particularly very happy for his Chelsea team mates Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante.

“I think we played very well throughout and I’m very happy for Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante,” Bkayoko concluded.

Chelsea and Bakayoko are preparing for their first pre-season match in Australia against Perth Glory with new head coach Maurizio Sarri at the helm.
