Tamim, Mahedi guide Platoon to win over Sylhet

Dhaka Platoon opener Tamim Iqbal guided his side to an eight-wicket victory over Sylhet Thunders in the 19th match of the Bangabandhu BPL at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Required to chase down Thunders’ 174, Dhaka were given a brilliant start by openers Anamul Haque and Tamim. Anamul struck a 23-ball 32 before falling to Mosaddek Hossain but Mahedi Hasan came in and blitzed a 28-ball 56 with five fours and three sixes to pick up his second fifty in consecutive days.
Tamim remained unbeaten on 60 off 49 deliveries while Jakir Ali’s cameo 11-ball 22 sealed victory with nine deliveries to spare. The win was Dhaka's fourth of the tournament that saw them climb to second in the standings while Sylhet succumbed to their fifth defeat.
Earlier, Johnson Charles hit a 45-ball 73 while Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten on 49 as Sylhet Thunder scored 174 for four in the 19th match of the Bangabandhu BPL at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Opting to bat first, Sylhet lost their first wicket, that of Andre Fletcher off the first ball of the innings from off-spinner Mahedi Hasan. Charles got a reprieve in the same over, but the West Indian made most of that by scoring 73, featuring eight sixes and three fours.
While Abdul Mazid and skipper Mosaddek Hossain fell cheaply, Mithun stayed till the end to confirm a challenging total for the team. The wicketkeeper batsman smashed four sixes in his innings. Sherfaine Rutherford, the third of four West Indians in the Sylhet line-up, scored an unbeaten 38 off 28 deliveries for an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 65 with Mithun.
