The UAE's middle-order batsman has done something that no Bangladeshi cricketer has managed to do as yet: scoring a century in a World Cup. And what a fine century it was. Make no mistake, at 131 for 6, the UAE were almost done and dusted. They lost their premier batsman Khurram Khan, who boasts an average above 50, early yesterday and needed a new hero. And that's when the 35-year-old stepped up. After cautiously negotiating the first few deliveries, he unleashed himself to the misery of the Irish. He reached his half-century off 51 balls and then began to take on the bowlers in the last ten overs; and he did so in style. He eventually ran a hard three to get to a magnificent century in just 79 deliveries.
