Tigresses gearing up
Following their triumph in the Asia Cup T20 in Malaysia earlier this month, the Bangladesh women's national team are gearing up for their mission in Ireland, which precedes their ICC World T20 qualifier in Netherlands, with a short training camp after reaching Chittagong yesterday.
After the four-day camp, Salma Khatun and her troops will return to the capital on June 22 and fly off to Ireland the very next day to take part in a three-match T20I series against the hosts. The Tigresses will then head off to Netherlands on July 3 for their World Cup qualifiers, where they will face Papua New Guinea in the first game on July 7 before taking on Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates in other group stage games.
However, Bangladesh will not have their newly appointed Indian head coach Anju Jain for support during training as she is yet to receive the required visa to tour Netherlands while assistant coach Device Palshikar is set to join the team next week.
"Whatever we achieved in Malaysia is in the past. The girls look forward to their next challenge and our first mission is to qualify for the World Cup and we will work accordingly in the training camp and also in Ireland," Bangladesh team manager and coach Nazmul Abedeen told The Daily Star yesterday.
