Tamim headed for Lord's
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will fly for England today to take part in the ICC World XI T20I game against the West Indies on March 31 at Lord's.
The International Cricket Council [ICC] had earlier confirmed the participation of two Bangladesh superstars in Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim in the match, but Shakib withdrew his name citing personal reasons.
After talking to The Daily Star over phone last week, Shakib confirmed the news that he is skipping the match because he needed rest as there is a lot of cricket coming up with the Afghanistan and West Indies series looming on the horizon.
Tamim will be the lone Bangladeshi to represent the World XI in a match set up to raise funds for stadia in the Caribbean which were damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria last year.
He is expected to fly directly to Dehradun to take part in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan starting from June 3, with the Bangladesh team scheduled to depart for the northern Indian city on May 29.
