T20I skipper to change?
Bangladesh's 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Afghanistan in the recent T20I series has apparently had a big impact with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mulling changes to the T20I captaincy.
Current T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan's captaincy and involvement with the team dominated discussions at the BCB executive committee meeting yesterday. The next assignment of the Bangladesh team -- who will have their last training session before the Eid vacations today -- is the full tour of West Indies, for which they will depart on June 23.
It was learned that vice-captain Mahmudullah Riyad is being considered in the T20I role for the two T20Is but it is still undecided whether the change will take place in the upcoming tour. Shakib, who was reappointed T20I skipper last year, has lost six and won just one match in charge.
The Test squad for the West Indies tour has already been approved and may be announced today. Unfortunately for the Tigers, BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury informed that pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who injured his toe during the IPL, is unlikely to be fit in time for the first Test on July 4.
