Bangladesh paceman Rubel Hossain has been reprimanded for use of foul language by the ICC (International Cricket Council) during the third ODI against West Indies which the visitors won by 18 runs to clinch the three-match series 2-1, an ICC media release confirmed.

Rubel contributed heavily to Bangladesh's victory by picking up the wicket of the dangerous Chris Gayle in the 22nd over of the match. He also bowled tightly in the death overs to ensure Tigers' victory after Rovman Powell's thunderous knock had threatened to take the game away.

In the 28th over of the match, Shimron Hetmyer edged a delivery which went to the boundary. Stump mic picked up an in appropriate word from the frustrated bowler and found him to have breached Article 2.1.4 which relates to 'using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match'.

Rubel was handed one demerit point and has now accumulated two demerit points after he had received a demerit point last month during the series against Afghanistan.

According to the ICC media release, Rubel admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.
