New format first in BD
While the England and Wales Cricket Board set about planning to hold a 100-ball cricket tournament in 2020, the format will debut in Bangladesh first in the 'Masters Cricket Carnival', a tournament featuring former Bangladesh cricketers from May 2 in Cox's Bazar.
"It's a new idea for us and we are going to try this format... let's see what happens. If we get a positive response and see the competitiveness then we might try this in future as well. The first 15 overs will be normal overs and the last over will be a 10-ball over," former Bangladesh captain Akram Khan told reporters during the players' draft of the Masters Cricket League in Mirpur yesterday.
Another former captain Khaled Mahmud expressed his excitement over the 100 ball cricket and informed that he is looking forward to be a part of the new era and hoping for a succesful tournamnet.
Each team will play the other twice and the top two teams of the five-team tournament will play the final on May 5.
