Masterful Mushfiqur
"I dedicate this knock to my son; he's just 35 days old," Mushfiqur said at the presentation ceremony after his stupendous unbeaten 72-run knock provided a much-desired five-wicket win at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday night.
When he came to the presentation ceremony to receive the player-of-the-match award, the right-hander had calmed down considerably since his wild celebrations -- he swiped his bat in the air, screamed and copied his young teammate Nazmul Islam's 'nagin' celebration.
Undoubtedly it was the finest T20I innings by a Bangladeshi and he deserves special kudos for the way he battled through cramps to take his side to victory with a 35-ball 72 and a strike rate of 205.71.
"We needed that win badly. Credit goes to the batsmen for holding their nerve. The way Liton and Tamim set it up for us was outstanding. It was a nice track to bat on. At the end of the day, winning is the most important. I was just having cramps and hopefully will recover for the next match," said Mushfiqur.
