How can someone be so cruel, Rubel asks
Bangladesh paceman Rubel Hossain had previously on Monday mourned the loss of lives after two young students from Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed with at least nine others injured, after two buses started a race near the ramp of Airport road flyover.
Today, a college student was run over by a truck during a protest at Shanir Akhra. The incident was caught on camera and the video went viral on facebook. Students have demonstrated and protested on the streets of Dhaka for the past few days, demanding punishments for the ones responsible and asking for safer roads.
Rubel had raised his voice after the two students were killed on Sunday, asking drivers to follow traffic rules.
"Because you did not follow traffic rules today, because you raced between yourself, some parents lost their children, some children lost their parents.
Today he posted on facebook, questioning the sheer barbarity of the incident that involved a truck running over a student protester.
Rubel wrote on facebook: "Just a while ago I came to know that a truck ran over a protesting student. How can someone be so cruel?"
Rubel tagged the post with the video that has been making the rounds on social media. According to The Daily Star correspondent report, the boy – Faisal, 18, a second-year student of Government Tolaram College in Narayanganj – is alive and undergoing treatment at Proactive Medical College.
