Fizz, Sunzamul pull things back
Mustafizur Rahman looked fit after returning from a toe injury and picked up three wickets while left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam bagged four to bundle out Sri Lanka A on 312 after Shehan Jayasuriya struck a hundred to help take a 145-run lead at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh however lost opener Shadman Islam on 19. Soumya Sarkar (24 not out) and Mizanur Rahman (13 not out) will resume the third day with the score on 57 for 1 and a deficit of 88.
Mustafizur who picked a wicket on the first day, immediately provided the breakthrough with the first ball of the second day to dismiss Charith Asalanka, who edged it to slip cordon without adding a run to his overnight score of seven.
But at the other end, half-centurion Shehan remained compact as he along with Shammu Ashan added 118 runs for the fifth wicket to bring the visitors back in the game and take the all-important lead.
Ashan however was trapped leg-before after scoring sixty off 105 balls by Sunzamul, but Shehan went on to reach his ninth first-class hundred to stretch the lead further for the visitors.
But it was Mustafizur who finally dismissed Shehan on 142 off 155 balls, which included 15 fours and four sixes. The left-arm seamer ended up with figures of three for 44 from 11 overs.
Left-arm spinner Sunzamul later removed the Sri Lankan lower order, picking up four wickets for 104 runs from 28.1 overs.
