BCB asks for venue change in Afg series
Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] president Nazmul Hassan informed yesterday that the board has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] to reconsider Dehradun as the venue for the upcoming bilateral series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to take place in June.
Dehradun is located 236 kilometres north of Indian capital New Delhi.
"We told them to reconsider the venue location so that it is convenient for our players as we will tour West Indies for a full tour after the Afghanistan series. It would be better for players if the venue is convenient for travelling. Dehradun is fine but we are looking for a convenient venue and it would be better if the series can be held in Kolkata or Bangalore. Obviously, we are in talks and I am sure BCCI will help us in this matter," Hassan told reporters yesterday.
He also said that former South African batsman Gary Kirsten has agreed to work with Bangladesh but his role is yet to be discussed.
"We've a list of the well-known coaches who have agreed to coach on a short-term basis. The bulk of them are working in the IPL. They will then work in the Big Bash [League] and other T20 Leagues. Most of them are not interested in leaving such cash-rich, short-term stints," he said.
Hassan also expressed his satisfaction over bowling coach Courtney Walsh and praised his performance as the interim head coach during the Nidahas Trophy.
