Celebrating Life - 10 Years of Glorious Success!
The Daily Star, a proud host of Celebrating Life, is known nationwide as the leading English newspaper. Through accolades such as the O and A Level Awards, Daily Star-DHL Business Awards and many more, The Daily Star has always carried the responsibility of ushering the leading names of tomorrow. The awards bestowed by Celebrating Life is of such caliber, acting as a fantastic first step for the talented and hard-working individuals new to the fields of filmmaking, photography and lyric-writing.
Truth to be told, despite the amount of emphasis given to the art of singing by the emotional and cultural-minded individuals of our country, there has always been a lack of importance given to the practice of lyric-writing. Common opinions deem lyric-writing to be of little value, which has lead to the absence of recognition of song-writers or lyricists. Celebrating Life has aided in the abolishment of this issue, by being the first and the only competition that not only properly rewards talented lyricists, but also encourage unsung lyricists in displaying their capability in front of the whole nation.
On the same note, there has not been a large-scale competition in Bangladesh that has awarded young photographers, at least until the arrival of Celebrating Life. Even though Bangladesh has produced renowned photographers in the past, there was no big platform for the younger photographers to exhibit their skills. While there are photography awards and exclusive exhibitions in present time, there has been no large-scale photography competition in Bangladesh before Celebrating Life. Celebrating Life has created the first platform for budding Bangladeshi photographers, and previous award winners have gone on to receive recognition around the world as well.
While there are a number of awards given to filmmakers in Bangladesh, the fact remains that young filmmakers are barely recognized on a national scale. Celebrating Life was, once again, the first competition to highlight new and promising filmmakers. Moreover, filmmakers who have won the Celebrating Life Awards in the past have received international recognition in major film festivals all around the world, and have opened doors for much newer filmmakers to compete with other countries on a global scale.
The widespread popularity of Celebrating Life throughout Bangladesh is an astounding feat. Every year there are a notable number of participants and winners from the rural areas, many of them not being regular readers of The Daily Star. This is a testament to how far Celebrating Life has spread in this country, and perhaps an indication of how much further it can reach in the upcoming years. Celebrating Life is also revered for its non-biased and uniform judging system. Judges chosen by Celebrating Life and the Standard Chartered Bank, the other proud host of Celebrating Life, are always deemed to make the right decisions, leaving no room for argument or controversy. Celebrating Life also hosts a number of photo exhibitions and concerts in universities all over the country, encouraging the young students to take charge of this innovative approach.
Celebrating Life has been a revolutionary initiative that has changed the landscape of filmmaking, photography and lyric-writing in Bangladesh. Even today it aims to develop young talents and nurture them into shining bigger and brighter. In its outstanding 10-year landmark, Celebrating Life 2017 is bound to be one of the biggest events. Come join the Celebrating Life Gala 2017, which is free for all and has no age limit. Let's all build a platform of uniqueness, and of course, celebrate life, together!
