Rashid Haider accorded reception in Pabna

Prominent writer Rashid Haider, originally from Doharpara, Pabna was accorded a reception in the district headquarters for receiving the Ekushey Padak 2014. Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Pabna organised the programme held at the Pabna Press Club auditorium on Thursday night.

President of the organisation Faridul Islam Khokon chaired the programme while Rashid Haider spoke as the chief guest. Among others, leading painter Hosne Jaman Hasu, seasoned journalist Ronesh Maitra, educationalist Professor Monwar Hossain Jahedi, theatre organiser Abul Kashem and Abdus Salam Tipu spoke on the occasion.

The speakers focused on the life and works of Haider, saying the people of the district were proud that he was from the region.

In turn, Haider expressed concern that Pabna, once the focal point of the progressive cultural movement, is slowly losing its cultural heritage.
