The reliance of Bangla Music lovers on YouTube is increasing day by day. Last year, the most viewed Bangla song was “Jhoom” by Minar Rahman with 9 million views at the year end. But this year, we could find five songs topping the previous highest view count. This year the most viewed Bangla song amassed more than 16 million views.

Simultaneously, the Bangla music industry is experiencing a positive trend for the last few years. The upward trend continued in 2017. The long-standing frustration of the audience with the Bangla music is also getting soothed away slowly. Good music, although rare, quite often springs up to soothe the ears of Bangla song lovers.

The realm of Bangla cinema also propelled the interest of the audience towards consuming more music. The Bangla entertainment industry saw some blockbuster movies like "Aynabaji", “Dhaka Attack” and “Doob” this year, and then there were some critically acclaimed ones like Halda. There were some high budget and promising joint venture Bangla films between India and Bangladesh that too did quite well in both the cinema industries.

Besides, the music industry is gradually getting rid of the piracy curse. The days of copying and pirating songs from cds and dvds are over and the era of YouTube has taken hold strongly.

The peppy and upbeat item song from Shakib Khan and Subhasree Ganguly starrer movie “Nabab” hits the ceiling this year with more than 16 million views till the report was being filed. Sung by Kona and Akassh, the song features some bold language infused with party beats to impress the rowdy Bangla music audience. This joint venture film directed by Joydeep Mukherjee casts Shakib Khan and Subhashree as leading characters.

Another party song “Sholoana” from the same movie “Nabab” takes the second spot this year with more than 15 million views when last checked. Sung by Shadaab Hashmi and Akriti Kakkar, the song was quick to touch the dancing bones of Bangla movie lovers with its cheeky use of Hindi word into the lyrics. The lyrics of the song are from Gautam Sushmit and it was choreographed by Adil Shaikh.

The controversial song "Yaara Meherbaan" from Jeet and Nusraat Faria starrer movie “Boss 2” takes hold of the third place on the list of the most viewed bangla songs this year. It’s view count was almost touching the 13 million mark last time we checked. It was sung by Nakash Aziz and Jonita Gandhi while the music was directed by Jeet Gannguli.

A romantic soft rock comes at the fourth position this year from the “Nogor Baul” James. His fans felt lucky this year that they got a new song from him. “Tor Premete” is a song from the movie “Satta” starring Shakib Khan and Paoli Dam. The music of the song was given by Bappa Majumder and the lyrics came from Sohani Hosen. Its view count stands at 11,839,449.

With more than nine million views, another soft romantic song comes at the fifth place of our list this year. The song “Konna Re” sung by Shan is perhaps most viewed for its sensuous video set on the background of traditional rural Bangladeshi setup. The video featuring Shushmita Sinha and Shan was directed by Shuvabrata Sarker. The music was directed by Rokon Emon while the lyrics and tune came from MR Khan.

The fourth installment of the series music album from singer Eleyas Hossain and Aurin released this year and the title song “Na Bola Kotha 4” occupies the sixth place according to the Youtube view count with 8,829,333 views and counting. “Na Bola Kotha” has always been a favourite among the Bangla song lovers since it started with its first album five years ago in 2012. The music of “Na Bola Kotha 4” was done by Rafi Mohammad and the video featured Antu Kareem and Mou. The song is written by Zahid Akbar while the tune was composed by Kazi Shuvo.

It has a view count of 7,104,402 views till now.
