Over 300 workers to get back insurance money
South Korea will arrange insurance money for more than 300 Bangladeshi workers who returned from Korea without collecting the amount that they were entitled to.
According to a statement of the Korean embassy in Dhaka issued yesterday, all Bangladeshi workers going to Korea under Employment Permit System get insurance coverage.
They bring that money home when they return after working for the stipulated period. However, sometimes the migrants forget to collect that money. The amount of money for each migrant ranges from Tk 30,000 to Tk 3 lakh.
Over the years, Human Resources Department (HRD) Korea has been working to arrange the due insurance money for the returnee migrants who forgot to collect it.
Yesterday, the HRD Korea EPS Center in Bangladesh published a list of more than 300 Bangladeshi returnee migrants on its Facebook page.
All of those listed can apply to the director of HRD Korea EPS Center in Bangladesh through email: [email protected].
In case of death of a returnee migrant, their wife, children, or parents can apply for the insurance money with proper evidence.
Under EPS, Bangladeshis have been going to Korea for jobs since 2008. So far, 27,561 Bangladeshis availed jobs in Korea. Of them, 5,600 went to Korea this year.
