Sabbir, Nasir, Mosaddek called up over disciplinary issues
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan today informed that the board has called cricketers Sabbir Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain and Nasir Hossain over disciplinary issues concerning their recent off-field activities.
There will be a hearing on Saturday where the cricketers will make their statements over the issues with the board. The issue of discipline has become a headache for Bangladesh cricket of late. During the tour of West Indies in July, batsman Sabbir, who has discipline issues in the past, unleashed a foul-mouthed tirade on a Facebook user who criticised his performance. Nasir found himself in trouble because he was a participant in an unsavoury Youtube video. Mosaddek Hossain is being sued by his wife of six years.
"Sabbir is not in the squad (for Asia Cup) and that definitely has an impact. They (cricketers who were called up) will be able to give their own versions of the stories and we will hear their statements.
"Whatever decisions are taken will be based on what they have done," Hassan said.
The BCB president however informed that BCB cannot meddle in all kinds of personal affairs. He reiterated that BCB did punish some of the players with disciplinary issues but if the involved cricketers cannot rectify their behaviour, then the board will take harsh measures.
"Cricket players are now idols. So they have to be good human beings as well. For repeat offenders, there is nothing we can do but take tough measures against them", he said.
