Mithun blitz seals series
A blinder of an innings from Mohammad Mithun set up Bangladesh A's series-clinching six-wicket win over their Ireland counterparts in the third T20 in Dublin yesterday.
Mithun pummelled seven fours and six sixes in his 39-ball 80 and put on a 117-run opening stand in just 10.1 overs with national discard Soumya Sarkar (47 off 30 balls) as the tourists raced past Ireland Wolves' score of 183 with seven balls to spare in a match shortened to 18 overs a side because of rain before the toss. The win in the last match on tour delivered Bangladesh A the series 2-1, after they won the first match and lost the next. They had earlier tied the five-match one-day series 2-2.
Mithun reached his 50 off 23 balls in the seventh over, and kept going strong after Soumya fell to Shane Getkate. Mithun was third out with the score on 139 in the 13th over, before Al-Amin Hossain and Mominul Haque calmly carried them across the line.
Earlier, Mohammad Saifuddin took four for 28 as Ireland scored 183 for five.
