Bangladesh among 9 guest nations being invited to next G20 summit
Bangladesh is among the nine guest countries which will be invited by India as the President of the G20 developing and developed countries to the next summit of G20 developed and developing countries to be held in New Delhi in September next year.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement confirming the matter, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
India assumes the Presidency of G20 for one year from December this year.
In addition to G20 member-countries, there has been a tradition of the G20 Presidency inviting some guest countries and international organisations to G20 meetings and summit.
Accordingly, in addition to regular International Organisations like UN, IMF, World Bank, WHO, WTO, ILO and OECD) and Chairs of Regional Organizations (African Union and ASEAN), India, as G20 Presidency, will be inviting Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and UAE as guest countries.
International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and Asian Development Bank will be invited to the New Delhi G20 summit as guest international organisations, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said in a statement today.
Under its Presidency, India is expected to host over 200 G20 meetings across the country beginning December this year.
The G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of heads of state or government is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 next year.
The G20, or Group of Twenty, is an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies. It comprises 19 countries Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, USA and the European Union (EU).
