Chhatra Dal leaders say 10-12 injured in attack by BCL men at DU
Chhatra Dal leaders of the newly formed committee were attacked allegedly by Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists in front of Sir AF Rahman Hall at Dhaka University today (September 27, 2022).
Ariful Islam Arif, general secretary of DU Chhatra Dal, who was also injured, told The Daily Star, "Chhatra League leaders and activists attacked us with sticks and machetes. At least 10-12 of us were injured."
The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to sources, the incident took place around 4:25pm today (September 27, 2022) when members of the newly formed 71-member committee of Chhatra Dal DU unit went to meet the DU vice-chancellor as per their earlier announced programme.
Quoting eye witnesses, our DU correspondent reported that around 4:15 pm, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists took position in front of the Mukti O Gonotontro Toron. When they started towards the VC office, 40-50 BCL leaders and activists of Sir AF Rahman Hall allegedly attacked them with rods, hockey sticks, and stumps.
BCL's DU unit General Secretary Saddam Hossain said that there was conflict among Chhatra Dal groups centering the new committee formation and Chhatra Dal leaders attacked each other over the issue.
