Road crashes kill three in Dinajpur, Narayanganj

Three people, including child, have been killed in separate road accidents in Narayanganj and Dinajpur.
In Dinajpur, a two-year-old girl was killed after being struck by a speeding battery-run easy bike in Joypurhat town this morning.
The victim, identified as Israk, was the daughter of Nazma Mariam, a female police constable stationed at Joypurhat Police Lines, said Nur Alam Siddique, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.
The accident took place around 11:00am in front of the Nesco office in Khanzanpur village.
Nazma was heading to her workplace at Joypurhat Police Lines with her daughter in her arms when a potato-laden battery-run easy bike hit them from behind, said the OC.
Locals rushed the injured girl to Joypurhat Modern Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Nazma also sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, police have seized the easy bike, but its driver fled the scene, added the police official.
In Narayanganj, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed after being hit by a bus on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Sonargaon upazila last night.
The deceased were identified as Kamruzzaman Tutul, 41, a businessman, and his friend Md Habib, 39, a Finland expatriate. Both were residents of Nandipara, Dhaka, said Wahid Morshed, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station.
Quoting family members and witnesses, the OC said the two friends had visited Sonargaon, where they bathed in the Meghna River and explored the Bangladesh Folk and Craft Foundation (Sonargaon Museum) and Panam City.
The accident occurred around 10:00pm [ Wednesday] in Tipurdi area while they were returning home on their motorcycle.
Locals rushed the injured men to Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead, added the OC.
