Fisherman drowns in Chapainawabganj

Fire service officials yesterday found the body of a fisherman, who had gone missing earlier that day in the Mahananda river in Chapainawabganj town's Baroghoria area.

Shukuddi, 65, son of Attab Ali of Jamadar para in the town, slipped into the river around 6:00am when he was fishing and drowned, said Alamgir Jahan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.

Upon information, a fire service team went to the spot and recovered the body around 10:00am, the OC added.

The body was handed over to the family without an autopsy upon their request.
