Cultural function at Bharateswari Homes
A vibrant cultural function was held recently at Bharateswari Homes to accord a reception to the new students at the institution.
Students' union of the institute organised the function at the Principal Protibha Mutsuddi auditorium at Kumudini Complex in Mirzapur.
Students of different classes performed songs and dances at the cultural function.
Earlier, teachers and students of the institute welcomed the 102 students who were enrolled in class XI this year with flowers.
A discussion was also held on the same stage.
Noted educationist Protibha Mutsuddi, also director of Kumudini Welfare Trust and former principal of Bharateswari Homes, addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Among others, Principal of Bharateswari Homes, Monika Devi Barua; Assistant Commissioner (Land), Mirzapur, Sharmin Akter Jahan; vice-principal of Bharateswari Homes, Golam Kibria; teacher Monira Siddiqua and students' union vice-president Sadia Saiyed and student Shirin Jahan also spoke in the course of the discussion.
Renowned philanthropist Ranada Prasad Saha established the Bharateswari Homes in Mirzapur in 1945 to promote women's education in the area.
During the Liberation War, the Pakistan army with the help of local collaborators abducted Randa Prasad Saha and his son Bhabani Prasad Robi from their Narayanganj residence. Since then there has been no trace of the father-son duo.
