Mukti demand fixing action

The officials of Muktijoddha Sangsad KC appealed for a competitive Bangladesh Premier League through increased vigilance on match-fixing as the All Reds completed registration of 19 booters including seven national players at the Bangladesh Football Federation yesterday.
"We always try to form a strong team in a bid to become champions in the league but you all know what happened in the last season and we appeal to the Football Federation to hold a competitive league,” said Emdad Hossain Motin, secretary of Muktijoddha Sangsad KC while signing up players at the BFF House yesterday.
“You will face competition everywhere, even among family members but we want a healthy league that will not have allegations of match-fixing,” said Emdad, whose team finished behind champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by one point deficit in the last edition of the league.
Muktijoddha Sangsad also officially announced that Shafiqul Islam Manik, who returned to the freedom fighters' team after nine years, has been appointed their head coach.
Much before transfers commenced, Muktijoddha Sangsad looked set to form a strong squad after confirming star players like Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club's Zahid Hasan Emily, defenders Ariful Islam, Rezaul Karim Reza, midfielders Mamunul Islam, Shakil Ahmed and Sheikh Russel KC's and the national team's goalkeeper Mamun Khan. All transfer-relating formalities were completed yesterday.
Last season's professional league runners-up, Muktijoddha Sangsad, retained
the services of most of their existing players including national striker Mithun Chowdhury, Alamgir Kabir Rana, national discards Maruf Ahmed, Mofazzal Hossain Saikat and Nasir Chowdhury and they released their old guns like goalkeeper Biplob Bhattacharjee, Rajani Kanta Barman, Motiur Munna and
Yeamin Munna.
“On paper, we are a better side than others and we hope our side will fight for the title in every competition,” said coach Manik, who helped Muktijodda Sangsad to win the Premier Division League twice, Federation Cup twice, National Football League and Independence Cup once each in his first nine-year stint with the club from 1997 to 2005.
Following a breach of discipline in the national team, Muktijoddha Sangsad's striking duo Zahid Hasan Emily and Mithun Chowdhury were handed five-match suspensions in the domestic circuit.
Although this requires both players to miss the Federation Cup, new coach Manik is hopeful that the suspension will be revoked since Emily and Mithun have been recalled to the national team.
National coach Nikola Ilievski yesterday asked Mithun Chowhdury to join the national team camp for the SAFF Championship when Mithun came to the BFF
House to sign up for Muktijoddha Sangsad.
