Two discussions -- on setting up a national film institute and modernising the existing theatre halls around the country -- were held recently at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Dhaka. Information Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun presided over both the meetings. Leaders of different film-related committees such as associations of directors, producers, distributors and actors attended the meetings. To solve various problems affecting the film industry, a couple of committees, headed by M. Hamid, director general of BFDC, were formed.
