Homage to poet Sufi Motahar Hossein

Marking the 34th death anniversary of renowned sonneteer Sufi Motahar Hossein, a memorial programme was held at Faridpur Sahitya Parishad premises in Faridpur town on August 20.
The programme included discussion, rendition of songs and recitation.
Educationist Kazi Zainul Abedin was the chief guest at the programme. Professor MA Samad presided over the event.
According to the discussants, the works of poet Sufi Motahar Hossain enriched Bengali literature. The poet received several honours including Bangla Academy, Presidency and Adamjee awards. As a brilliant son of Faridpur, Hossein will always be remembered, they added.
Among others, Professor Altaf Hossain; Professor ANM Abdus Sobhan; Professor ABM Sattar; former president of Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and cultural personality Mafiz Imam Milon spoke at the function.
Selim Majumdar, Rozina Begum, Rukhsana Akhter, Bhagirath Malo and Alep Boyati rendered songs at the event, while poet Manoranjan Bose, Pasha Khandokar, Jamal Habib, Abul Kalam Tofazzal and Shamima Begum recited poems.
