Piles of seized pick-up vans, cars, and CNG-run three-wheelers left to decay on a footpath of Shyamoli Ring Road in the capital. Such mindless action not only obstruct pedestrian movement, but also can lead to accidents. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Palash Khan

WELCOMING AUTUMN … When “sharat” starts in the month of Ashwin, it’s almost like the clouds descend as Kans grass flowers, known as Kanshful, spread through the lands. Against the blue sky, the flowers sway with the autumn winds, providing an amazing spectacle for all. The photo was taken at Khulna’s Dumuria upazila area yesterday. PHOTO: HABIBUR RAHMAN

Mohammad Zafar Sheikh ran his small grocery store in Mohammadpur Krishi Market in the capital for 26 long years. However, it all went up in flames when the market was ravaged by a fire on September 14. From the ruins, Zafar managed to salvage a few products yesterday. He sat in front of his burned down shop and sold as much as he could, earning around Tk 1,100, to remind himself that he could, perhaps, restart his life. PHOTO: PALASH KHAN

With parked staff buses taking up the fast lane of Panthapath-Tejgaon Link Road, vehicles are caught in a long tailback near the Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel. Commuters suffer due to such snarl ups in the area. The photo was taken around 1:30pm yesterday. Photo: Sk Enamul Haq

Construction of the Kalia Bridge over the Nabaganga river in Narail’s Kalia upazila is yet to be completed. The first deadline for completion expired in June 2019. Officials attributed the delay mainly to a design flaw. Residents of the upazila still use trawlers and ferries to travel to Narail town. The photo was taken recently. Photo: Habibur Rahman
