The man, hailing from Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur, went to his in-laws' house at Aminpur village in Pabna's Bera upazila with fever, cough and respiratory problem last week.

Noticing the symptoms, the in-laws on April 5 took him to the medical college hospital where doctors sent him to the isolation unit after medical checkup, said Dr Abul Hossain, assistant director of the hospital.

"We have collected his samples and sent those to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital laboratory for Covid-19 test. We didn't receive the test result till now (Thursday noon)," Dr Abul Hossain said.

But the patient managed to flee from the isolation unit on Tuesday, he added.

"As we failed to find him, the hospital authorities have filed a missing diary with the police station today," the doctor said.

"Police are trying to find him," the OC said.
