Dengue fever: 2 die, 219 hospitalised in 24 hours
Two more dengue patients died while 219 were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, only 52 patients have been hospitalised outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, a total of 17,790 people were infected and of them, 7,434 were diagnosed during the current month, the DGHS data shows.
At least 7,698 were infected in August; 2,286 patients hospitalised in July; 272 in June while 43 in May, according to the DGHS.
In total, 65 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year -- all in July, August and September.
Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 19 in September so far.
Among the deaths, 60 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram and Khulna, and one in Rajshahi division.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 954 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 218 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
