
At least 142 dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours, till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, 38 are from outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, the total number of dengue patients rose to 26,343 this year. Of the total infected, 4,003 are from outside Dhaka.
So far, 2,688 people have been diagnosed with the fever during the current month.
At least 5,458 patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May, and the rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.
A total of 98 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July, while 34 have died in August, 23 in September, 22 in October and seven in November so far.
Among the deaths, 90 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 436 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 107 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
