153 more hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours: DGHS

At least 153 people with dengue fever were admitted to hospitals across the country in 24 hours till 8 am today, registering the single-day highest of this year.

A total of 2,098 patients have been diagnosed with dengue this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of the total infected, only 54 are from outside Dhaka.

Among the 2,098 infected, 1,726 were diagnosed in July, indicating a fast-rising trend of the disease.

Two hundred and seventy-two were infected in June, while 43 infections were recorded in May.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 568 of them are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 11 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
