108 dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 108 dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00am today, of whom 62 are from outside Dhaka, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With them, the total number of dengue cases this year rose to 27,451 while a total of 229 were diagnosed during the current month. Of the total infected, 4,335 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 3,567 dengue patients were diagnosed in November, 5,458 in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and rest are from January to April, according to DGHS.

According to DGHS 98 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year -- all in July, August, September, October and November.

Twelve people died in July while 34 died in August, 23 in September, 22 in October and seven in November.

Of them, 90 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 323 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 78 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
