PM, health minister mourn death of Dr Moyeen from Covid-19
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today mourned the death of Dr Moyeen Uddin, an assistant professor of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, due to Covid-19, the director-general of DGHS said.
DG Prof Abul Kalam Azad expressed condolences to the late doctor's family on behalf of the prime minister, during a briefing.
The PM has assured that the government will take full responsibility of Dr Moyeen's family, the DG added.
The family will soon receive the special health insurance for doctors announced recently, the DG also said quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque also expressed his condolences to the family while speaking during today's briefing.
"One of our co-fighters has died, it feels like I have lost a brother," the minister said adding that the PM has assured of all kinds of assistance to the family.
Dr Moyeen breathed his last around 6:30 in the morning while undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the Intensive Care Unit of Kurmitola General Hospital, the DG of DGHS said.
He had contracted the decease while treating patients of Covid-19, the DG added.
The late doctor is survived by his wife, who is also a doctor and two children aged 12 and seven.
