Varun, Samantha to film Indian version of ‘Citadel’ in Serbia
Recently, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan disclosed that his debut web-series, "Citadel", will showcase extraordinary action sequences and that the production team is set to travel to Serbia for filming. The highly anticipated show, which also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu, serves as the Indian adaptation of Prime Video's global spy franchise, "Citadel", produced by Amazon Studios and Russo Brothers' AGBO banner.
Speaking at the IIFA Awards Varun expressed his excitement about the project, stating, "Working on this project has been an amazing experience. We will be shooting in Serbia for a month. The show will feature a lot of action sequences. This series is on a grand scale, unlike anything Indian audiences have witnessed before."
Filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, known for their successful collaborations with Prime Video on "The Family Man" and "Farzi", will serve as the showrunners and directors for the Indian version of "Citadel".
Varun further emphasised that the production team is striving for excellence, asserting, "The makers are pushing boundaries. Samantha and I are committed to delivering something extraordinary. She is one of the most hardworking actors in the industry."
The "Citadel" franchise was initially launched with an American version, featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. Additionally, an Italian instalment titled "Citadel: Diana" is scheduled for release next year.
On the big screen, Varun's upcoming project is Nitesh Tiwari's "Bawaal", where he will be seen alongside Janhvi Kapoor.
