Up Stage Theatre to stage ‘Shopnovuk’ at Bangladesh Mahila Samity today
"Shopnovuk" (The Dream Eater) the second production by repertory theatre group Up Stage, will premiere today at 7 pm at the Nilima Ibrahim Milonayoton, Bangladesh Mahila Samity. Based on Syed Shamsul Haque's novel "Janak o Kalokofi" the production is directed by Saif Shumon.
People's dreams are devoured by reality, while that same reality gives birth to new dreams, and the truth is the basis of all dreams. Since ancient times, humans have been seen to seek truth and accepted it without any hesitation. "The Dream Eater" is a story of achieving life and truth in life itself.
"Over the last few years, my curiosity has been aroused by the events in the human mind," says director Saif Shumon. "The politics of relationships are as important to us as the politics of power. The wailing state of time is the result of the chaos around us. This play looks to showcase this chaos in our minds."
There are two characters in the play – a poet and his shadow. Mohammad Bari will be seen as the poet while the shadow character is going to be portrayed by S R Sampad.
Shakil Siddhartha is the stage planner of the drama while Asim Kumar Natta is the music director. The other crew members of the production include Amlan Biswas (light), Wahida Mallick Jolly (costume), Aniket Pal Babu (special body postures), Charu Pintu (poster), Johnny Sen (make-up), Md Moniruzzaman (background music and recording), and Imamur Rashid Khan (main vocalist-music).
