Five-day cultural programme on Bangladesh’s Liberation War to be held in Kolkata
A cultural event showcasing the relationship between India and Bangladesh during the latter's Liberation War in 1971 will be organised by the Indian Army's Eastern Command in Kolkata from September 26 to 29.
Various arrangements including film screenings, theatre plays, musical concerts and band performances are planned during the five-day "Bijoya Sanskritik Mahotsav" to be held at Rabindra Sadan and Nandan Convention Centre in Kolkata in connection with 50 years of the Liberation War.
Events will bring to the forefront various tales of bravery of the Indian soldiers and our freedom fighters in the historic war.
Lt Gen Manoj Pande, Commander of the Eastern Command, will inaugurate the event at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata in the presence of Veer Naaris, war veterans as well as prominent media personalities and people of Kolkata.
Highlights of the event will be a fusion band display (an amalgamation of army pipe, brass and jazz band), performances by renowned Bengali playback singers and a theatre play on 1971 India-Pakistan war.
Attendees at the five-day event will also have an opportunity to witness vintage vehicles and equipment of the Eastern Command and get guided tours of the Fort William military station.
